About

About Artist

For as long as I can remember, I've loved the freedom of being outside in the elements, for me being in nature bestows a gift that nourishes the soul, beyond comprehension!, and so, is the inspiration behind my practice. Being an abstract artist allows me to express my connection intuitively, working in oils, and graphite, I capture the essence of what I see and feel. I am seduced by colour and mark making, continually experimenting to see what can be achieved by moving the colour around the canvas, using line as a vehicle to distort and abstract, encapsulating the changing light and shadows which course their way across the land, highlighting its texture and geology, by applying and removing paint I can also expose a glimpse of the past beneath the surface, mimicking the archeology of place, giving myself permission to alternate between the real and the imaginary. It's all these contradictions which intrigue and excite me.
